About Us Comptoir des ecritures was born in the calligraphic crucible that was Toulouse (South of France) in the seventies; it draws its knowledge and its sense of perfection from the patronage of the most famous masters.
Purchasing and producing are made at the very source of each product all over the world, thus giving all garantees of technical knowledge and the best possible prices. Gathering more than 2 000 items of let's say Japanese, American or Ottoman origin never happened before. Since 1999 the online shopping service offers all these rarities and riches to everybody everywhere under the now enlarged name of The Great Calligraphy Catalogue, while the shop in Paris had to close from May 2011 to concentrate on international mailorders.

Making A Purchase Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Order' to check out and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order. There is a minimum order amount of 25 € including carriage.
Prices on this web site are shown TTC (tax included) so a rebate is seen on the final price to pay for deliveries outside EU.
Prices are as low as possible (direct import prices). We accept Visa and Mastercard payment after encryption by PayPal. Very important notices: 1) a PayPal account is not necessary; 2) you must come back to our wesbite after PayPal payment to valid the whole process otherwise our confirmation of order can't be released.
If you prefer to pay through your banking system, please click on "Advance wire transfer". Our IBAN and BIC will come shortly by email.
We usually charge only items ready to ship. If by accident there is a Backordered item, it is shipped at no further cost or repaid directly on the credit card account.
Very important notice for customers outside EU: due to the last postal regulations we are unable to ship some large size orders as our system can't calculate measurement. In case this happens, please understand that we are forced to cancel the order and immediate refund its payment.

| Shipping And Handling We usually ship through the French postal administration using their registered Priority service, called Colissimo International. Carriage is added when you checkout, depending on the actual weight and destination. |
| Delivery Schedule We deliver your order right away, on the famous "first come first served" basis. We will normally send your order to you within 7 business days . There is usually no shipping on Saturdays nor Sundays. International orders take generally 4 to 15 days after shipping, according to each country. August deliveries may be slower. |
| Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we will backorder it and send later at no cost. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait. The item is then repaid directly on the credit card account. |
Tax Charges For orders to France or the European Union, 20 % VAT is included (5.5 % for books). All other orders will appear VAT free when checking out.

Credit Card Security When the order is placed on our website, credit card numbers are encrypted through PayPal system. Nevertheless, having or opening a PayPal account is NOT necessary to use the security system as it is said on the bottom of the PayPal page: "if you don't have a PayPal account click here".

Nevertheless most of the products in this catalogue are handmade in countries where industrial norms are rarely known and all details of size, weight, colours etc. are given without responsibility.
